Unfortunately I missed the opening of the hostel due to having to pick up my brother Jesse and his wife Ann from the airport. They had come from Dunedin, as Jesse was participating in the Cook Islands Health Conference. But we did get to see the building, albeit rather depleted of the hundreds who had gathered for the celebration of its completion. It was a long time coming, but it looks great and its finally finished. We hope that the people of Palmerston get to use it as often as they like for their community meetings and a place to hold family gatherings. Also, as it is the community hostel for people of Palmerston travelling to and from our small island, it is a place for them to stay before they need to move onto the next stage of their journey through Rarotonga either to Palmerston or from it.
