Research: How do you go about being a family historian?
I wish I had known about a similar book when I had started on my own journey of discovery trying to locate the family of William Marsters of Palmerston Island. While this book focuses on the US study origins of the author, Nancy Hendrikson, it does give some important insights at the same time into “how to use and get the most out of” this valuable online tool, Ancestry.com.
Ancestry.com must be one of the first “go-to” places for anyone who is starting off on a family history study. For me when I was starting off my investigations about William Marsters nearly twenty years ago, Ancestry.com was definitely the first place I looked. I had to google family history studies to even identify that this would be the place to start, judging by the number of recommendations that the site gathered.
So if you would like to get step-by-step expert advice from someone whose been through the journey of discovery which family history searches send you on, then this would be an excellent start.
Nancy Hendrickson is the author of several books/ These two versions of her book – “The Unofficial Guide to Ancestry.com” (2018) and “The Unofficial Ancestry.com Workbook” (2017).
Both books are available in paperback from Amazon Books and orders can be made directly to them by clicking on the Amazon link.
